Migration to Drupal
Has your site outgrown its CMS? Do you need structured content, roles and an editorial workflow, or a connection to your business systems that WordPress or another CMS only manages through a pile of plugins? I move the site to Drupal without losing visitors or search rankings.
What I migrate
- Content – pages, posts, categories and tags into Drupal’s data model
- Media – images and files, with their captions and links to content
- Users and roles – accounts, permissions and content authorship
- Multilingual content – language versions and how they link together
- Forms and features – what plugins used to do, replaced with a contrib or custom Drupal module
How I keep your SEO
A migration is the most common moment for a site to lose its search rankings. So SEO is part of the process from the start:
- URL inventory – I go through the current site and map every address that has traffic or links.
- 301 redirects – every old URL leads to the matching new page, not to the homepage.
- Metadata – titles, descriptions and structured data move with the content.
- Post-launch check – I crawl the site, fix what turns up and verify the sitemap.
How a migration runs
- Analysis – what is on the current site, what to bring over and how the content should look in Drupal.
- Trial migration – a repeatable migration through the Drupal Migrate API that can be run again until the data is right.
- Review with you – you go through the new site on a test environment.
- Launch – the final data transfer, the switch-over and a check of the redirects.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will we lose our Google rankings?
The aim is that you do not. 301 redirects and preserved metadata tell search engines where the content has moved. I always do the post-launch check.
Does it have to be Drupal?
Not always. For a smaller presentation site without an editorial workflow, Hugo
may be the better fit. I help you choose – see also Drupal Websites
